This is the first group show from a collective of artists that were formed in 2008 with one special trait in common - they have all been invited and have accepted to exhibit at the Florence Biennale at some time over the past 13 years! Each artist has shown great courage in making the pilgrimage to Firenze, 15000 air miles and on the opposite side of the planet and competing in the home town of Michaelangelo and Leonardo. These are innovative and adventurous artists, each with a strong belief in their artwork and a desire to test their work in Europe, a long way from home.

Australians do not have the luxury of being close to the rest of the western world but are quite isolated by distance and to take the opportunity and chance to exhibit in the seat of the Renaissance, in the city that houses more than 30% of the world's great art treasures is a daring deed.

Notwithstanding the difficulties that each artist had to overcome to undertake such a journey, of the 60 artists that have exhibited, 15 have won awards (25%) which is a high percentage and shows the ability of Australian artists to shine overseas.

We believe this exhibition will give artists, collectors and artlovers from around Australia, the chance to meet with the artists and see what sets them apart. It is a chance to discover this daring group and share their experiences with them so please join us in South Melbourne in October.
